Have you always envisioned the perfect engagement ring, great fashion necklace or earrings to go with that one special outfit? Have you searched and nothing seems to fit the mold? Why not let us make the mold for you?
Here at Georgetown Jewelers we can start with your unique vision to create a distinctly one of a kind piece of jewelry that meets your every specification. The lost-wax casting method of the custom design process starts with several sketches until the proper vision is put down on paper. From there, the three-dimensional model of the piece is carved from a special wax material. This allows you to see the item in a 3-dimensional form to give you a near complete representation of what the finished product will be. Any changes that need to be made can still be done at this stage of the process. Once the wax is completed to your satisfaction, it will be cast into the precious metal of your choice. The casting process involves the caster making a mold of the wax model. Once the mold has hardened, the wax is melted from the interior of the mold (hence the name lost-wax casting; the wax is destroyed during this stage) and the metal of choice added to the mold. Any precious metal can be used, such as 14K or 18K yellow, white or rose gold, silver or platinum. Once this process has been completed, the mold is destroyed to retrieve the precious metal casting which will be polished extensively to prepare it for gemstones to be set into, if desired. Your custom jewelry item will truly be one-of-a-kind, ensured by the fact that both the wax and the mold of the item are both destroyed during the lost-wax casting process.
Allow Georgetown Jewelers to bring your vision to become a reality.
